Events at Prambanan

Sendratari performances take place throughout the year, either on the Trimurti stage or at the open-air theatre. Sendratari or 'Ramayana ballet' is a recently created form: essentially wayang wong without the narrations.

Performances are either abbreviated versions of the whole Ramayana story or sequences of episodes from the story:

    1–4: The abduction of Sinta
    4–7: The death of Kumbakarna
    6–9: Hanuman's mission
    7–10: Trial of Sinta's purity
